Dispatches from the Forest

Dispatches from the Forest

What a beautiful day to be out amongst the trees. Despite being mid-February at Fox Hollow Forest, the home of Fox Hollow Friends, it’s a balmy 57 degrees F.

Today Jacque du Fox decided to take Barnabas the Bushcraft Bear out into the wilds to teach him some of the skills he learned during his logging career in Canada.

Due to their mutual love of nature Jacque and Barnabas have struck up a very close friendship and spend a lot of time together outdoors doing Fox and Bear outdoors things.

Here are a few photos of their day together……

Jacque is explained to Barnabas the importance of taking excellent care of your rope.

Barnabas holds the important end of the rope while Jacque demonstrates how to repel down the side of the boulder.

Jacque coils his rope up after a successful repel by Barnabas.

Here Jacque du Fox explained how to select the finest logs for the mill. There are two ways to get a log to the mill.

Tie a timber hitch knot around the log and drag it or...

Use a two-creature log carry method.

Jacque is explaining.
